Once service is live, grantmakers will first become NGOsource members. They will pay an annual membership fee based on the estimated number of equivalency determination (ED) requests needed in the coming year. Members will also pay an ED processing fee each time they request an ED.

NGOsource will offer a special package for new members who want to try out our services. We also welcome major supporters who wish to help NGOsource streamline international grantmaking.

Operated by TechSoup Global, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, NGOsource is focused on minimizing the cost of ED for all grantmakers. Fees cover the actual costs of ED requests.

The pricing below may change based on the specifics of the IRS' regulatory approval.

Membership fees

Annual membership fees are based on the number of EDs you expect to request in the coming year. The more requests you expect to make, the higher your volume discount. While you will not be penalized for over- or under-estimating the number of ED requests you plan to make, choosing the right membership tier will minimize your costs. Membership fees do not include the cost of ED requests.

The average of the number of non-U.S. grants you made over the last three years can usually provide an accurate estimate of the number of EDs you will need. These examples show how to calculate overall costs for your organization.

ED processing fees

In addition to your membership fee, there will be a processing fee for each ED request you make. This fee depends on two factors: (1) whether NGOsource has previously certified your intended grantee and (2) whether the existing certification will be valid for grant payment dates.

	An ED exists in our system for the NGO and will be valid for your grant date. NGOsource can immediately issue a certification in your organization's name.	The ED in our system will not be valid for your grant date. The NGO must submit updates, and NGOsource will review the information to make a new determination.	The NGO has never had an ED processed by NGOsource. Full data collection and review is needed.

For the first year of NGOsource operations, we expect most ED requests to require the "New NGO" processing fee. These examples show how to calculate overall costs for your organization.

Examples of how to calculate costs

1. New member

A foundation wants to try out NGOsource for equivalency determinations for its intended grantees in Nicaragua. Through the New Member Package, the foundation pays a $500 discounted membership fee and uses all four discounted ED requests at $880 each that come with the package.

Total Annual Costs: $500 + (4 x $880) = $4,020 for 4 EDs

2. A few EDs

A healthcare foundation needs just eight ED requests. It joins at the Tier 1 membership fee of $1,000, which has a "New NGO" ED processing fee of $1,760 each.

Total Annual Cost: $1,000 + (8 x $1,760) = $15,080 for 8 EDs

3. Many EDs

A foundation plans on requesting 37 EDs and joins at Tier 3 to get the appropriate volume discount. Its membership fee is $4,600, and the 37 "New NGO" ED processing fees cost $1,580 each.

Total Annual Cost: $4,600 + (37 x $1,580) = $63,060 for 37 EDs
